All the love,
Hello friends! I can’t believe it is less than two weeks before How to Get Your Heart Broken gets released!! I am feeling ridiculously impatient. The only reason I don’t want to speed up the days is because I am currently on spring break (Ha!). Anywho, I have something to help us all get through the wait: the book trailer!
I made it myself (not to brag or anything 😉 ) so I am excited to share it with you all. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
All the love,
I know it’s been a while since I’ve updated this blog, but I’ve been doing pretty well with the other one! Anyone, I wanted to let you all know what I’ve been up to.
First of I started blogging for a digital magazine called Ennui. Yepee! I’m writing about all things related to books so check it out! One of the things I want to do on their is author interviews. So I am currently looking for YA authors that have recently published a work (both traditional published and self-published). So if you fit this description, be sure to comment below and maybe I can help you publicize your book!
In other news, I have dedicated this summer to writing (and being unemployed, obviously). I plan on finally releasing How to Get Your Heart Broken. I’m also working on writing another novel that I am REALLY excited about (more on that later)! And if you’ve visited my other blog, you will know that I’ve been working on an old manuscript of mine called Fallen. But RIGHT NOW, I’m fixin’ to release a short story collection called HEART. It’s coming VERY SOON (Jeez, I’m really sorry for abusing the ALL-CAPS but I just can’t contain my EXCITEMENT!). Anywho, HEART should be released in about a week. It’s a collection of romantic short stories in the young adult and new adult genre and it’s going to include an excerpt from How to Get Your Heart Broken. Of course, you all will be the first to know when it comes out, and I’ll probably spend the week bombarding you all with updates (forgive me). But get excited!!!!
Alright, that’s pretty much all I can think of for now. But I will talk to you all very soon, if you miss me be sure to visit me at my other blog. Or follow me on twitter, since I’m actually twittering pretty regularly now! Miracles do happen.

Hey guys! So this is an excerpt from the third story I am releasing tomorrow, it’s called “What Scares You.” If you’re interested in the others check out my previous posts, called “Loveless” and “We Met at Target.”
A bad date could just be the start of the night when everything changed. Drunk drivers, quiet bars, and unsolicited confessions create an epic formula that will either bring two strangers together or tear them apart; its only guarantee is how it will unravel them.
And here’s the excerpt:
“Siblings?” He asked, clearing his throat.
“An older brother,” she smiled, leaving the faraway world she’d been visiting before he called her back. “He just got married last summer. The girls a bitch-”
He let out a weird humph, some mixture of astonishment and a nervous laugh that almost made her regret what she’d said.
“But it’s true!” She protested. She sighed and rolled her eyes, as if someone was forcing her to admit her fault, “But she helped him get his life together I guess and he’s happy…at least I think so. So good for them…I guess.”
“I hope that wasn’t your toast at the wedding,” he said, his eyes widening in fear.
“I didn’t get the chance to make one,” she said regretfully. She propped her chin up on her palm, and looked up at him for the briefest of seconds before fixing her eyes to his coaster. She had never dated anyone who used a coaster before. She was trying to decide if she liked it or not.
“Is there a story there?” He asked. He was too curious now to regret the way his voice betrayed his interest.
She smiled slowly, sadly, at the coaster, “Maybe I’ll tell you one day.”
She looked back at him. Her eyes were a warm, strange mixture. Chocolate with a hint of sunlight, sad and bright, he liked looking at them, though he couldn’t explain why.
“What about you?” She asked in a high voice, blinking the mystery away.
Thanks for reading! If you’re interested, you can buy my stories here.
Hello world! So tomorrow is the day I am finally releasing three new short stories on Smashwords (also available on Barnes& Books, iBooks, etc ). Eeeek!!!! I thought I’d put up some samples up here for anyone interested. So here’s the first one *cue drum roll.
This one is called “Loveless”
Intelligent, eccentric, and bored, Mae is still waiting for the moment her life will change. At her first house party, she thinks she may have found the answer in a certain stranger’s crooked smile, but some journeys must be taken alone.
And here’s the excerpt:
“You going to the party at Jackson’s house Saturday night?” She asked me after our temporary release from the prison that is Russer’s class.
“Probably not,” I replied, debating if I should make up some lie about having other plans and deciding against it when I remember what a terrible liar I am.
“Come on! Jackson is going to be there.”
The way her eyes grew, so large it seemed they could have swallowed her small, doll-like face whole, you would have thought Jackson was her nickname for the Loch-ness monster.
“I figured he would be, since it’s his party…”
I may be the only girl in school not impressed by Jackson and his all-American good looks, but Emma already knows this. She was already halfway out of the building, shaking her head as she walked away and turning to blow me a kiss before she pushed the door open.
Emma and I are not friends. The only time I have “hung out” with her outside of school was three years ago when we happened to be at the DMV at the same time bonding over the fear that we would be the only two in our grade to fail our driving tests. The two of us just happened to end up on similar paths. This is not saying much, coming from Pine Hill, an absurdly small town on the outskirts of North Carolina we weren’t the only two from our high school that fled to the biggest college in the area. Still, sometimes I wondered if she had followed me to school, her place as every teacher’s favorite student secured with the stellar combination of my brain and her people skills. By now I don’t really mind her. Besides, I am using her as inspiration for one of my characters, Mia’s more outgoing and conventionally likeable older sister.
If you liked it, buy it tomorrow! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
